Some previous challenges our supporters took part in....
Three Peaks Challenge - 19th-21st August 2011
A group of 17 raise money for Children's Wish
Clive and Karen Gamble - parents of a little boy we granted a wish for, decided to gather together a group of friends to complete this amazing challenge.
Clive said, "Having witnessed first hand the joy that Round Table Children's Wish were able to bring to our son Oliver with a trip to meet Father Christmas in Lapland, we felt compelled to do something in return. It did not take long to persuade some friends that completing the 3 Peaks Challenge would be a good idea and so for 9 months the members of "Team Happy Feet" trained and planned our challenge.
On arrival in Fort William we were met with rain. Ben Nevis was a hard relentless slog. We walked through the clouds and froze at the top! The journey to Scafell Pike was long; With fatigue, exhaustion and really challenging conditions we trudged up the rocky path. A quick overnight journey to Snowdon and we began our last mountain at dawn. Despite fatigue our team climbed Snowdon, scrambling at times to complete the ascent.
With blisters, sore feet, and tired limbs we completed our 3 peaks challenge. Every member of our team had an amazing time. The sense of unity and personal pride, raising over £10,000 for a great charity with live with all of us for years."
Thank you so much to all 17 participants for completing such a fantastic challenge and raising so much for our charity. Well done from everyone at the charity!
Charles Safapour completed the Grim Challenge - Sunday 16th January 2011
On Sunday 16th January 2011 Charles Safapour entered the Grim Challenge, with the aim of raising funds for our charity, Children's Wish. Charles said, "The run is one of the most challenging courses around, its cross country over an army training course, we had to go through cargo nets, lakes and mud up to your chest so a great day all-round!".
A big congratulations to Charles for completing the challenge. The monies raised will help make more dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Here is a photo from the day!
Richard Grindell & Paul Frank's Everest Base Camp Trek - 13th November until 1st December 2010
On the 13th November 2010 Richard and Paul headed off to Everest to take part in the challenge of trekking to the Base Camp and raising funds for our charity, Children's Wish. Here is a little bit about the experience in their own words, "The trek was a wonderful experience, harder tha
n I thought, mainly because we spent 12 days at over 3000 metres, two of those at 5000 metres! There were 30 in our group. We all made it our goal of getting to Base Camp Everest. There were some spectacular bridges to cross, however when there are a few people on it and maybe some Yaks, they move ar
ound and sway a bit!".
A huge thank you to Richard and Paul who raised in the region of £1300 to help us grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses! We really appreciate all your support and a big congratulations for completing the challenge.
Julia Rigby's Mount Etna Challenge - 22nd to 25th September 2010
With two friends, Julia took on the challenge of climbing Mount Etna in aid of Round Table Children's Wish. She successfully completed the challenge over three days, but was unable to go right to the top due to recent activity within the volcano! A real personal achievement, Julia was delighted to raise money for Round Table Children's Wish.
Silver Surfers Team complete a Three Peaks Yacht Challenge on 19th June 2010
Well done to the Silver Surfers Team who completed a Three Peaks Yacht Challenge, which involved sailing 389 nautical miles, running 59 miles and cycling 30 miles!! Phil Gillard is an ex-tabler from Frodsham & District Round Table and has raised money for Round Table Children's Wish in the past.
Phil and his team started at Barmouth in Wales, then onto Caernarfon to climb Mount Snowdon, off to Whitehaven to climb Scafell Pike and finally on to Fort William to climb Ben Nevis. They have so far raised around £500 for us, so thank you so much to the team! Well done!

On 16th May 2010 Henry Wilkinson set off with a group of his friends from Land's End in Cornwall - with the huge challenge of cycling Britain from End to End - finishing at John O'Groats in Scotland!! Henry chose to complete this 950-mile challenge to raise funds for our charity, Round Table Children's Wish. They had many 5am starts and cycled around 10-12 hours per day! Nathan Adam's London to Paris Cycle Ride - 5th to 9th May 2010
In Nathan's own words,.jpg)
"Up for a challenge and wanting to do something for a charity, I decided that now would be the time to do it and so I booked the cycle. Always wanting to raise money for a children’s charity, I decided to raise money for the Round Table Childrens Wish after looking at their website and seeing the amazing work that they do. I managed to raised over target and hit £1400. There were a lot of hills but plenty of undulating terrain to keep it varied. Day 1 involved riding over 90miles from Crystal Palace to the Dover ferry. After crossing over to Calais it was time to stop for the night. The 2nd day involved cycling 75 miles through French countryside and day 3 very much the same. On the last day we set out for the last stretch of our cycle ride riding 60 miles into Paris city centre, taking in all the sights. The sense of achievement I felt completing the ride was incredible and there was a real celebratory feeling in the group - France is a beautiful country with stunning countryside and most importantly I was able to raise money for a worthy charity helping it to continue it's wonderful work. This is an experience I will never forget". Well done Nathan - from everyone at Round Table Children's Wish!!
