Buy My Bag - 6th November 2011

Buy My Bag in association with The Silver Spirit Fashion Show was a wonderful fundraising event enjoyed by all.

Thank you to everyone who donated handbags and came along on the night. Thank you to Mia and Ironfist for donating some wonderful new handbags.  Also a big thank you to all the retailers and volunteers that sold tickets and helped on the night. An extra special thank you to LMP Models who put on an absolutely fantastic fashion show, hosted by Fire Radio's Jay Rachet.

We managed to raise enough funds to help grant some very special wishes including; Sapphire aged 12, currently being treated for stomach cancer. Her wish was to be a model for the day. Her dream came true when she strutted down the Catwalk alongside the professional models in The Silver Spirit Fashion Show. Her wish also included a makeover and photo shoot in London where she got to travel around in a pink limo.

Great North Run (13 miles) - 18th September 2011

A great day was had by all at the Great North Run in Newcastle on 18th September.  Our team of runners enjoyed a sunny start but it ended with a downpour of rain on the last stretch of the run!

Kevin Allars - a great supporter of the charity, went along to support the RTCW runners by waiting at the finish line to cheer on our runners and then met them at the Family Reunion Area afterwards for a chat and some photo's.

A big thank you to all our runners for completing the Half Marathon and for raising funds which will be allocated to wishes happening in the North of England.

The fastest running times I have had in so far for the RTCW team are as follows:

London Marathon 2011 - 17th April 2011

What a fantastic day?!  Just wanted to say how proud we are of all of our runners who managed to complete the whole marathon, and in such hot weather! It is an unbelievable achievement!

This year we had a team of 39 runners all raising money for Round Table Children's Wish.  Collectively, the team did astonishingly well by raising just over £80,000 which will help us grant a staggering 32 wishes!!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for working so hard to raise this money, we really appreciate all your support - You really will be bringing alot of smiles to alot of children's faces!  The monies you have all raised is a massive help, for what is going to be a really busy year for the charity. Thank you so much.

Rome Marathon 2011 - 20th March 2011

A fantastic time was had by all in beautiful Rome.  The Italians loved the wings that the Round Table Children's Wish Team wore as a symbol of the wish fairy work we do!! The charity was lucky enough to be able to work their way around the course and spectate to catch most of the RTCW team run past at the 3k mark, 12k and 32k which we all really enjoyed.

Everyone ran the race of their lives, beating expected times and our fastest runner, Martin Rock, came in at 3hrs 24mins 51secs.  Well done Martin!

Starting and finishing a Marathon is an inspiration in itself and on behalf of the charity we want to thank you all so much as the monies you raise will make such a difference to the children whose wishes you fund.

One of our runners Mike Bellamy said: "After we finished we said never again to a marathon, but now that we’re back and have been able to reflect I wouldn't mind giving it another go just to see if I could break four hours.  We'll see.  Running in Rome was just amazing, going past all the sights, the heritage, etc...and running on cobbled streets for quite a bit of the way was fun!!!!  The Pope was being broadcast on big screens as we went through St Peter's Square.  I'll never forget it.  The support from the crowd was fantastic.  The weather was kind to us too.  It did get very hot at some points (a touch of sun burn here and there) but on the whole it was perfect.

It's looking like we could end up raising about £3,000 between Jamie and myself." Well done guys!

Midnight Wish Walk  - 7th May 2010

Our 3rd Midnight Wish Walk on Friday 7th May saw almost 200 ladies pound the prom from Bournemouth to Southbourne at midnight.  A fantastic evening with everyone getting into the spirit of the event wearing their feather boa's and flashing bunny ears with pride.  Many of  the ladies arrived in fancy dress, some ready for their bed but others ready to party !  Also joining in were the guys and girls from Baysup Paddleboarders who covered the distance fully illuminated in the sea.

Many many thanks to all who took part and made the evening such a great success and who's efforts will ensure that we continue to grant the Wishes of local children.

Our thanks go to our sponsors who make the evening possible. We were entertained by Samba Panashe at the start and by the juggling society of Bournemouth University at the Boscombe Pier. London Marathon - Sunday 25th April 2010

A huge thank you to the team in London this year.  Everyone finished, some with just a few injuries but nothing major and all euphoric about finishing and raising those all important funds. We think you are all brilliant!

Morris Man - Dave Tindall makes it into the Guardian Newspaper for his 14th Marathon.  He is hoping to run for us again next year.

Neil Petrie at the end in Horseguards finding Colin Jackson for a celebrity shot.

We bumped into our 1000th wish child Matt Arding who ran with his dad Paul.  Matt is now 21 but at 17 he wished to go, again with his dad, to Germany to watch England play.  They both ran the Marathon for the 2nd time to raise funds for Wessex Cancer Trust who Matt now works with.  We are trying to get them to run for us at the Great South and think we might just have talked them into it...

David Slade carries a torch for Round Table Children's Wish!

Rome Marathon - 21st March 2010

We had our first Round Table Children's Wish Team fly out to Rome to take part in the Rome Marathon on Sunday 21st March 2010. We were overjoyed to be there supporting our runners who had chosen to take part in this to raise money for RTCW.

Please visit our Facebook page as we have a fantastic video from one of our supporters who was out in Rome running the marathon for us.  Please visit http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bournemouth-United-Kingdom/Round-Table-Childrens-Wish/61848394856?ref=ts

There were lots of hills and plenty of cobble stones, which I am sure was very exhausting, but it was a beautiful place to explore and a fantastic setting to be running through. They did all this to make many more wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.

We want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you from everyone here at the charity for everything you did and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

We hope to see you again next year!!

These are the RTCW runners, with the Fundraising Team and all of our wonderful supporters

These are the runners on the podium who came first, second and joint third out of our group.  Well done guys!

Jon Snelling Returns from his Kilimanjaro Trek - March 2010

In his own words:

"Kili was an amazing experience – certainly the most physically, mentally and emotionally challenging thing I’ve ever taken on.   Things were made a bit tougher as we had heavy rain every day/night, and a bad snow blizzard on our summit night which brought the temperature down to -30C!!   Unfortunately I suffered from bad Altitude Sickness at just over 5,000 metres which meant I lost most coordination and the ability to walk, talk etc (which was an “interesting” experience.. ) so the trip doctor wouldn’t allow me to continue – this meant then having a 4 hour trek back down to our camp at 3 in the morning in the middle of a blizzard feeling cold, tired and pretty disappointed at not having quite made it;  All part of the challenge!!

Would I do it again knowing what I now do?  Unquestionably yes, although perhaps at a different time of year when it wasn’t approaching the rainy season!

I managed to raise just over £3.5k – hopefully this will help towards making wishes come true for the children that you do such fantastic work with."
