Nicola’s Mountain challenge to help poorly children

Congratulations to everyone in Nicola’s team who climbed Mount Snowdon on Saturday 11th September to help make wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Katy Spencer and a team of friends and family took on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in aid of Round Table Children’s Wish. The climb was in memory of Katy’s beloved sister Nicola who tragically died on her honeymoon three years ago, aged just 42. Nicola’s daughters, Becky and Rhiannon also took part in the climb, and the entire family got involved in one way or another.

Katy said: “Helping good causes was close to Nicola’s heart”.

“Nicola loved children too so that’s why we decided to do this Snowdon Challenge for Round Table Children’s Wish in her honour.

Our charity has been granting handcrafted wishes to youngsters for 30 years and we are honoured to be part of Nicola’s legacy.

We are delighted to announce, Nicola’s team of 20 raised a staggering £4,163.83 for Round Table Children’s Wish and they are expected to receive more donations. The funds raised from this challenge will allow the charity to reach more poorly children and grant them the wish of their dreams.

Nicola’s team took on the Llanberis path, the misty views along their route looked beautiful. However, the weather most certainly was not on their side. With cold and wet weather conditions on the way up, their visibility was very poor and at some stages, they could barely see in front of them, but the sun came out as they walked back down the mountain.

We are very proud of Nicola’s team for reaching the summit in 4 and a half hours and then walking back down the mountain in 3 hours all to help raise funds for our wish children.

We’d like to say a huge thank you and well done to all those who participated in this challenge and thank the generous people who donated towards their fundraising.
