London Marathon: The spirit lives on through our runners in aid of sick children

The 2021 London Marathon saw our charity’s remarkable supporters run their hearts out in aid of our wish children and their families and from the bottom of our hearts we want to thank you!

It’s been 889 days since the last London marathon was held, and on Sunday 3rd October, England’s capital created the most inspiring buzz and Round Table Children’s Wish had 31 runners who all played a vital role in making that happen. The atmosphere was electric and all our runners were on top form!!

On behalf of everyone at Round Table Children’s Wish, we would like to thank you for choosing to run for our charity and helping to make wishes come true for children suffering with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

We are beyond grateful for all your support and commitment you have dedicated to our wish families during your training and fundraising journey.  Particularly, as you’ve encountered the challenges of a global pandemic – this only emphasises your great sense of warmth and determination.

The London Marathon is the charity’s main fundraising event of the year, and it allows us to continue to grant handcrafted wishes for children during a very traumatic time in their life. For this, we are extremely thankful to our team of 31 runners, all contributing to making these wishes come true!

We are delighted to announce our 2021 London Marathon Team raised an outstanding £44,216!  And with further sponsorship still to come in.

Amongst our team, we had several members from the Round Table Family, a Superhero Pea, first-time marathoners, dedicated ultra-runners, and Nick Butter who had completed 200 marathons in 128 days around Britain’s coastline just 6 weeks prior to race day.

It was a real pleasure for the charity to meet our runners at the Pizza/Pasta Party meal the night before the London marathon, as well as meeting them on race day in Greenwich Park to see them off at the start line.  This year the race started with smaller waves of runners released over a 90-minute window. Despite whether they felt nervous, they all seemed in such positive spirits, which was infectious to say the least. Our charity cheer squad were elated to see them run past at Mile 17 – looking strong and still smiling!

The support our runners receive from their loved ones is fundamental to our runners and our wish cause and we would also like to thank you for your involvement.

Round Table Children’s Wish appreciates all your efforts to help our wish children and their families from the funds raised this year!
